Building — resources, levels, workers

Buildings turn a captured hex into a working part of your economy. Here you'll find out where you can build, what categories of buildings exist, how the cost is built up, what building levels give you, and who the slaves and engineers are.

Where you can build

Buildings go only on hexes you have already captured.

Categories of buildings

All buildings are split into five big groups.

  • Power generation. Turn raw inputs into energy for the player.
  • Mines — raw resource extraction. Can only be built on a hex with a matching deposit; over time they yield resources.
  • Processing factories. Take cheap raw resources and turn them into more valuable ones — boards, steel, glass, bread, slaves, wars.
  • Housing and faction structures. Houses grow your population of slaves and warriors; portals and manufactures are needed to advance on the faction tree.
  • Other unique buildings. Each has its own narrow purpose: a propaganda tower boosts your rating, forposts extend the border, and so on.

Build cost — resources and recipes

Every building has its own "recipe" — a fixed set of resources (boards, steel, glass, etc.) that you have to spend to put the building up.

Workers — slaves and engineers

Mines don't work on their own: they need workers. There are two kinds in the game:

  • Slave. Cheap, but works slowly and inefficiently.
  • Engineer. Expensive, but works fast and reliably.
